Being Honest with Myself

Friday, February 26, 2016

I'm in a battle with myself. Some days I fudge a little on quantities. Sometimes I track everything I've eaten, then add on a snack and "conveniently" forget to log in those calories. Or, maybe I stretch the exercise minutes a little....especially when my SparkTracker doesn't work.

I don't think I'm unusual. It's a human tendency to fudge a bit. However, I'm making it a priority, a goal. a commitment to be honest with myself. After all, what we put into SparkPeople can only be an estimate, no matter how careful we are. Logging is for ME, to help me see what is happening and where I might want to change. If I don't give it the right information, who's going to suffer?

I know exactly what you mean. I try to stay accountable by taking little tracking breaks, so I can catch up on the small things that I snack on if I think I am not watching, lol. I do like Barbara, I will track a bit more on some things, especially if I didn't measure. I err on the side of caution. I would rather show more than not enough. It has served me well. Speaking of.... I will need to track my dinner and snacks now.

Right you are ... the information is an estimate.

The scale is my final arbiter and what I have tracked gives me an idea of where I might focus my attention to get the result desired.

Honest, self evaluation supports our efforts. emoticon

You're so right. All of this benefits us, so we need to be honest with ourselves.

    Keep up the good work!

I have given up trying to hide things from the nutrition tracker. It's not like anyone else can see it, it is for your eyes only. I do forget or don't write licks and bites that I take during the day, but I do make up for that by increasing the quantity of something I ate and recorded. I also like to pre-track my meals. After breakfast and right before lunch, I track my lunch and my dinner too if I know what I will eat. This way I can take a good look at what nutrients I am missing and where I am going over on. It is inevitable that we will forget some things we eat, but I think as long as you have the major caloric, fatty, sugary foods logged, you will get an accurate picture.

Kudos to you for realizing that you need to be real!! emoticon emoticon
