For St. Patrick's Day - Hard Work, Luck and the Promise of Success
Thursday, March 10, 2016
Every St. Patrick's Day I think of my grandfather. He came from a family of Irish immigrants and was very proud of his Irish heritage, he loved everything Irish! He had a joyful heart and a strong work ethic. He believed hard work could take you far but you should also enjoy the journey.
I found this St. Patrick's Day quote from Thomas Jefferson, who was of Welsh descent, not Irish but I decided it was close enough to my grandfather's philosophy to be relevant. We all are here because we want to be able to eventually celebrate the successful end of our journey, we meet friends to help us along the way and wish each other luck. In the end it's our hard work, not luck that will bring us successfully to the end of our journey. When you wish someone luck I think what you really are wishing for them is the courage to continue and the continued support of friends.
