The ECG completed in December at the local hospital after my bikram yoga debacle, upon review, indicated an enlarged left auricle and scarring on the left ventricle and septum.
My GP called me in to express her concern: and booked the earliest possible referral to a cardiologist.
Yesterday the cardiologist performed an ultrasound -- says this is a MUCH more accurate picture of the heart -- and assured me: healthy healthy healthy.
He says that the ECG image is produce by "vectoring" of sound waves (or at least that's what I think he said!!) and can be misleading if the position of your particular heart in your particular chest is a bit unusual.
So: I'm heartened! (You don't really realize how much you've been worrying about these things until you stop worrying!!) Extra-energetic at the gym this morning!!
And so grateful for the wonderful medical care: efficient, professional, caring, humorous and kind.
Only cost to me? The $6 for parking at the hospital in December . . . .
