The sun is out and everything is amazingly sparkly!!

The tree guys have come early this morning and done their thing: emergency removal of the big chunks of maple from our roof. And on to the next customer! There are lots of people with trees down . . . waiting in line. Tree guys will be back in due course to trim the tree itself and take away the debris and remove branches from a birch and another maple also significantly damaged and present their account which is going to be pretty sizable.

Oh well oh well oh well. Lots of heavy equipment involved, arborist work is highly skilled and quite dangerous, and I can't begrudge 'em earning a living. Very very grateful that my DH need not try to do this himself with or without my help -- no way I want him to risk injury.

Most of yesterday we were without power. House was getting pretty chilly and there was of course nothing hot to eat. But: clearly the hydro workers were out there working hard and restoring the juice eventually. It was great to heat up a bowlful of hot soup, crawl into bed, rev up the electric blanket and get toasty warm again. We absolutely slept in.

How dependent we all are on the work of others.

Weather forecast indicates we'll be +11 soon: I can hear the ice falling outside, a kind of constant tinkling wind-chimes effect.

So: heading for the Y to get some exercise and to enjoy the sparkles en route: by the time I'm done, I expect all the sparkles will also be on the ground and melting.

How dependent we all are on the work of others. Thank you for this insight. What we do or do not makes an impact. It matters. Hugs!

Glad you were not without power too long (assuming nothing spoiled) Just another dull dreary dark day here, brightened by the whirlwind visit of my sister who go got my eye glasses fixed that chose to fall apart at that very moment. We both tried to get that tiny little screw back in to no avail. New respect for those that deal with it on a regular basis.
Enjoy a more uneventful rest of the weekend!!

Glad the tree was removed and the electricity is back. And yes, each job, even the ones we label as 'simple', is very important in our society. We co-depend on one another in different ways.

"How dependent we all are on the work of others."

Above popped out at me and I need to ponder for a while as to whether I see this as a more positive or more negative condition.

Ah yes.... Ice storms are majestic! But, they alwso are so dangerous! glad the power came back on and you were able to enjoy hot soup and your electric blanket! How grateful we must be for the hard work of so many others! Like my parents, I take the time to ask people who work for me wht their name is and a little about them and then I make sure I say a true and heartfelt thank you! Even delivery people get a true and heartfelt thank you from me!

Damage control, better left to others at our "advanced" age, eh? Really cannot do what I could 15 years ago. But putting money (and work) into others labor is the right thing to do.

I remember Sparkle Plenty. Gravel Gertie too!
We lose power at the lake regularly in ice storms. Not much snow but ice we've got.
Glad no serious damage was done and all is getting back to normal.

A Dick Tracy reference? Sparkle Plenty? Seriously, glad you got the worst of the tree taken care of, and on a holiday weekend, yet! And of course, the return of "hydro"! Heat is a good thing! emoticon

That's tough to be without power in those temperatures, but you seem to be making the best of it.
