Gratitude for Heimlich Stories

Saturday, April 02, 2016

Thanks, Sparkies, for your well wishes and your own Heimlich reminiscences.

I HAVE Heimliched (if that's a verb) my own son successfully on two memorable childhood occasions: hard lollipops while running, both times. DH has schooled himself for "next time" which we hope is no time, ever. DD herself has all that sort of training from her various first aid/fitness instructor certifications and would have known exactly what to do had she been there. And although I "knew" about self-Heimlich on a chair back etc., believe me was waaaaay too panicky and dizzy to recall in a timely way at the moment of crisis.

Throat is recovering physically and I'm recovering emotionally too: it helps to focus on the gratitude and not the fear. I'm surprised by how traumatic the experience was. And how concerned I was about "not making a fuss" at the time . . . oh yeah, silly as that sounds.

All's well . . . etc.!! Life is precious. And I'm heading to the gym to celebrate my healthy strong body.
