How amazing, to see a goldfinch in bright buttery yellow summer plumage, against a snowy backdrop!
Goldfinches don't migrate: they spend their winter here, but in drab olive feathers -- males scarcely distinguishable from females.
But now it's spring, even though persistent snow storms say otherwise. And the goldfinch is sure about that, zipping from birdfeeder to hemlock in exuberant upwards bursts of flight.
