Race for Inclusion Today
Sunday, April 17, 2016
The race today went very well. I looked at the crowd and KNEW I'd be at the back of the pack. It was definitely a young group.
The Wheelchair athletes and their runners started 5 minutes ahead of the rest of us. It was truly a wonderful tribute to those who use wheelchairs. Each of them were given a lea (pink flower necklace) and a medal for crossing the finish line.
I guess there was someone behind me; I didn't see them. I did the 4 miles in 65 minutes, though, an average of 16.25 minutes per mile. That's close to my best time. I always walk, not run, as my doctor told me not to after I had my hips replaced. I'm so blessed to be close to my girls.
