Where do the days go
Tuesday, April 26, 2016
I feel like it was just Wednesday and here it is Tuesday already. My how time gets away from me. I've been busy working outside in between rain, going for walks with Daisy, and just doing day to day kind of things.
I've been working on my Ancestry for the past several days. I have quite a list of characters in my trees, especially on my husband's side. He has ties that go back to the first settlers on both his mother's & father's side and it is so interesting to me to read all the information and see the documentation. Those people did a really great job of keeping track of people. I fall into my time-traveler persona and it feels like I'm really there.
But the best thing is that I'm getting ready for a visit from my long-time friend, a really great friend who I don't get to see more than about every 5 years or so. She and I lived in the same small town when our first babies were infants. We would get together every week and have tea. The babies were too small to really play with each other but it was so nice to spend time with another 'grown up'! She is also the dear friend who was willing to wake up at midnight the night my second daughter decided to finally come into the world. She's definitely one of those friends who you can not talk to for months or years but who you connect with as if you've only been apart for a couple of weeks! She's coming tomorrow and staying until Friday! Should be fun.
I am also getting ready for a week-long trip to Galveston, TX. We will be leaving early Sunday morning, May 8th and driving all day the first day. The second day we will stop in Arlington, TX where my husband lived for several of his early years - his Dad was in the Army and they were stationed in Texas. When asked, Tom will say he's from Texas even though he's lived at least 50 of his years in Minnesota. Then on to Galveston where we will meet Tom's newly discovered half sister - long story there. But the best thing, we are staying in a hotel just off the beach. Can't wait to see what Daisy does when presented with the ocean!
How nice to have two things to look forward to. Doesn't happen often in my life so I'm embracing it!
