Our trip started out pretty well. The sky was blue and the roads were clear - until we got to Des Moines. Traffic really picked up - a lot more than I remember going through Des Moines. And the bright sunshine was covered up a bit with some clouds but that made it easier on the eyes.
Then we got to Missouri and rain. By the time we got to Kansas City it was raining so hard with thunder so loud and lightening that looked like you could reach up and grab it. We stopped at a Starbucks for a rest, coffee, and to check the weather for the next part of the trip. Poor Daisy wasn't too happy about having to go outside in the pouring rain but she was a trooper. So mommy and Daisy were pretty wet for the next part of the trip but it didn't really matter because it continued to rain so hard that we had to pull off again. Couldn't see the road ahead of us.
We finally made it to our hotel and thankfully it stopped raining for the last 3-4 hours of our drive. The hotel was welcoming and the bed was comfortable. Daisy has been a bit nervous but she slept in her travel kennel most of the night. It's very humid in this room so I left her kennel door open. She started the night on the tile by the front door and checked on us a couple times during the night.
It's raining again this morning and it looks like we're going to have rain for a good part of the rest of the drive, but hopefully not thunderstorms. This is an adventure, for sure!
