I've had it!

Monday, May 23, 2016

Returned from a 3 month trip away from from home. Only gained 1#, but somehow my body "grew". So I started a determined routine of eating well and exercising every day. I'm not strong enough yet for the tough classes at gym. I live in a community that loves outdoor, physical activity year round. These seniors are f-i-t and active even if they're 85. So I've been using dvds to get stronger, refusing all trigger foods, eating healtlhy......and getting no where.

Today I changed course. I put on my hiking gear & hiked the extremely rough, steep mtn behind my house.Took photos of the new moose foot prints (yikes..moose are aggressive!) and hiked back down that steep mtn. Up to the top of another steep mtn, back down. 4 mountains with no trails, carpeted with fallen, broken timber from logging operations (after devastating beetle kill) and crossing water on logs. Burned 500 cal in about 1 hr. (where's the advil?)

So let's see if my non-compliant scale shifts tomorrow. Otherwise, it will find itself out on the mtn with the moose and 2 bears I've seen there this week. Take that, stupid scale!
I've had it!

After that class you just did, it's clear you've certainly progressed beyond "I'm not strong enough yet for the tough classes at gym." I must say though that I much prefer going up and down a mountain to a gym, but you've got the will power to do whatever to stay fit and that's what matters.

Our bodies are so unique...sometimes I eat well and exercise and make no progress and then slack off and lose weight. It's hard to know why. We just have to keep being as healthy as possible and it will pay off over time. Your hike sounds wonderful!

You are doing great! Changing things up may kick start things - let me know how it worked for you.
I am benched from pickleball (calf injury) and pilates classes are over, so I am getting a lot less exercise, only 30 mins of gentle yoga in the morning and guess what: I have lost 3 pounds!! Maybe I was overdoing it :)
Hope you will see results soon!!

I totally get you! The same thing is happening to me. I gain a couple, lose a couple, gain three, lose one. I hike, walk, and do yoga 6 out of 7 days a week, I have started doing a little more strength training AND I have been eating very well and very clean, making sure I don't create too big of a calorie deficit, and not too small of one. I am soooooo tired of this! Part of me thinks it's part of getting older and part of me thinks that's bull$hit. Better luck to us BOTH.
