More Flowers

It's so nice to see some color in my yard after the long winter. The Peonies are really nice right now and such a rich color. These plants came from my mother's house - she had some beautiful peonies and hostas that I couldn't leave behind when we sold here house.

These are growing in the front and look nice with the daisy's (which are laying down some because of all the rain and wind we've had recently).

In the very back you can see the colorful geraniums I just planted. My grandmother had two built in pots outside her front door and every year she planted them with geraniums - but always red.

At the great suggestion of my spark friend Fredie, I planted some ferns in my built in planter at our front door. They are growing pretty well and starting to send up new shoots.

We desperately need to paint our house this year and looking at this photo - I might be painting the brick planter as well. Or doing something to clean it up. I am not in my front yard very much (so close to the highway) so I tend to forget about it!

And these Peonies were off-shoots of the larger ones in the front. This is their third year in this spot between our house and our neighbors and they are really blooming nicely this year.

Look like more weeding needs to be done. Unfortunately today was a perfect day for it but I had several other things to take care of and now I had to decide to take Daisy for a walk or do some weeding. I chose Daisy!

The garden seeds are starting to grow as well. Yesterday I saw radishes and arugula, today the kale and kohlrabi are coming up. I love this time of year when everything starts growing.

Your flowers are beautiful! We live in a little apartment, and it is shady most of the day on our patio. But I'm not very good with plants, anyway. Somehow, both my daughters are very good with them, especially my older daughter. And my sister is, as well. Guess I just missed out on those genes! But I sure do enjoy other people's gardens!

I had to come see your peonies too! You are right; they are striking! What a beautiful deep pink and they are so full. I only have white ones, and they are not nearly as big as your blooms. They haven't all opened yet so maybe they will be more showy eventually. Mine came from my grandmother's garden, and we always used to take peonies to decorate the graves on Decoration Day which is more often called Memorial Day. We also took irises since those were likely the only things blooming at the end of May.

I like your natural stone planter too. I probably would leave it the way it is. I LOVE rocks and stone. We have a stone fireplace and stone columns in our family room as well as outside the family room. And we have a stone patio where we enjoy breakfast sometimes. Thank you for sharing your lovely flowers and ferns.

I love peonies. I painted my brick planters with something called concrete paint, that could be mixed into any color. It worked really well. I love Spring in Minnesota!!

Kathy, The Peonies are absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!! How lucky you are to grow such beautiful flowers! Darn, I wish they grew here. ;o( The FERNS are growing! It will look wonderful once they fill out! Ya know, I kind of like the color of your brick being natural. Painted may not turn out that well. Don't do it until after you paint the house. Hugs to you and Daisy Doodle! fredie
