I'm still feeling icky, but better than I did yesterday. Lots of Juice Plus and vitamin C and rest today and hopefully I will feel human again tomorrow and be able to work out. This not working out is for the birds! I hadn't realized how much better I feel when I work out till I was forced not to work out due to my knees and being sick. Can't wait to hop on the treadmill tomorrow, don't worry, I'll take it easy, I don't want to injure my knees worse!
This is how I feel today!
DH is feeling awful as well, so talked me into making "posole" (not really posole b/c it has beans instead of hominy, but still has the same flavor profile) - at 1 in the afternoon. Now I get a whole chicken and boil it for hours to get the broth just right and debone it and - you get the point, all homemade. I was up with it till almost 10. But, was worth it when DH was so happy with a cup of broth from it.
So below is my new 'book tote'. I finally found out what I was doing wrong and why the insides looked so messy. I accidentally sent a picture of it to Aunt G (was trying to send to hubby) so she called and we figured out what I was doing wrong. I can't wait to make another tote so I can make one that looks right!
I'm really enjoying sewing, even when the finished product doesn't look as great as I'd like it to. I'm not giving up. I will get better at this. Making the book tote yesterday, knowing it wasn't going to be as pretty as I wanted, but not giving up and making it anyway, that was hard work for me. My inner perfectionist was wailing that it wouldn't look right and to stop and toss it, but I didn't give in. And it really doesn't look that bad, I can use it around the house, or the kids can play with it. I'm going to start on another one today for my Bible out of the canvas material I got, but this time I know it will look prettier. I don't know how to make the handles with the thicker material, it's will be harder to do, but I'll figure it out!!
I have a game plan for nutrition this week. I have my 'posole' which is simple and healthy, it's basically white beans and chicken. Simple. I'm going to have DH make his version of red beans and rice; black beans and rice. He makes it with a creole flair and this time is going to use shrimp instead of sausage (kinda like summer sausage). That will be very healthy, he makes it with a ton of veggies. I got my whey protein powder in, now I just need to get some almond/coconut milk. And I've got frozen broccoli and some green beans, plus tons of carrots to go with my hummus. I'm all set for the week!
I did discover that premaking brown rice is a no-no. It goes bad really quick, and man does it go bad. Had to throw away the container because it was so awful smelling. I'm just going to have to get over the fact that I'm going to have to cook more often in order to eat healthy. I can make for a day or two in advance, but that is it. Plus I'll have the other stuff premade, so that will help. I'll manage it somehow! I just don't want to go back to eating junk food or frozen dinners (I do keep a lean cuisine on hand just in case). I can cook, I'm not bad at it, so I have no excuse for not eating well. Plus, if I eat a salad, no cooking required!
I'm off to go rest for a while, I'm really hoping I'll be well enough to walk tomorrow.
