At the end of this week I’m headed on a trip.
Because I'm only on Day 21 and just getting on my "healthy life" feet, I’m a little nervous about the change of atmosphere and potential lack of control.
I’m dedicating a few minutes today to get my healthy plans in writing. If you have any helpful tips for me, post away.
Thinking through my fingers:
Travelling through an airport. PLAN - pack a few healthy snacks. Walk around airport while waiting. Stay hydrated on the plane.
Anticipating late nights. PLAN - find time to stay rested and get sleep in. Maybe schedule naps?
Being at a high altitude, in high heat, in dry conditions for 2 weeks. PLAN - work out slowly at first. Stay hydrated. Avoid too much alcohol (maybe 1 drink every few days). Pack CamelBak.
Eating out at least once a day. PLAN - choose healthy foods, but don’t deny some of those special restaurant treats. Share meals with daughter. Don’t splurge everyday. Choose carefully.
Travelling home for 3 days by car. PLAN - move every chance I can. Walk at rest stops. Drink water (maybe get a travel cup) and plan bathroom breaks! Stop at a grocery store to pick up produce. Listen to chilled out music and inspirational podcasts.
Things to look forward to:
I’m going to be in one of my FAVORITE places - Southern Utah!
I can spend a ton of time taking iphone photos. Walks will be about more than fitness, they’ll be about mental health and enjoying my hobby.
My family will be there.
Mountains, desert, SUN, clear days, etc.
I get to watch several plays and musicals and see my husband do his job.
This is a place I’ve celebrated healthy living in the past. I’m far from a healthy weight right now, but 3 years ago I ran a HOT, dry, challenging, trail/road 10K here. I need to remember who I was as a healthy, motivated woman. I respected her. I was proud of her. I’m working to be her again.
Things to pack:
Work-outs: clothes, running bras, socks, running shoes, hairties, fitbit, charger, CamelBak, RunningBuddy.
Theatre: dressy clothes, shoes, jewelry
Photography: phone, charger, olloclip
Just jotting down my plan has made me less anxious and more excited.
How about you? Do you plan? Do you have any travel tips that work for you?
