Daisy's first haircut
Monday, June 20, 2016
I brought Daisy to the groomer for her very first wash, cut & nail trim at 8:00 a.m. which is a miracle in itself. I haven't left the house before about 10 in quite a long time. She thought it was pretty cool, she liked all the good smells and saw that they had a glass jar with treats in it - she loves her treats. She even let the young lady who was helping us pet her and check her over.
THEN she took Daisy behind the gate and mom didn't follow - not cool. She jumped up on the gate and gave me that "what's going on here, mom" look. But I've left scared children before but this time it was tough. I went home to wait.
The appointment was for 3 hours when I hadn't heard by 11:15 I worked real hard not to worry. Then it was 11:30 and my husband came up wondering when. I didn't want to call and look like a worried doggy mom, even though that's what I was. Heidi called at 11:45 and said Daisy was really good and ready to come home.
She was so happy to see us you'd think we had abandoned her for weeks instead of hours. She was soft and fluffy and clean! They thinned out her coat and trimmed up her tail. Before she had some pretty long & curly fur the whole length of her backside, which was really thick. She hated me brushing her there. All the curls are gone. I think I miss the curls, they swayed back & forth when she ran, but she looks like a proper puppy now and she seems to like it, although she's pretty tired out tonight. Must have been a lot of work being so cute! A successful day at the beauty parlor!
On another note, my friend Fredie is doggysitting for a Goldendoodle this week - I had never heard of that breed until she told me about it. This weekend my son who is the director of an animal shelter in Bemidji told me he had just accepted a Goldendoodle on Friday and that he and the staff couldn't stop looking at her because she was so cute yet unique. I found a photo of her on my computer after he left - her name is Bauer.
We finally had lower humidity today and I was able to weed my entire vegetable garden and 1/2 of my perennials. Tomorrow I need to get at the rest of the plants. I am pleased with how much I got done but I'm also hot and exhausted. Think I'll take a cool shower and relax for the evening.
