Mindful Eating

Last week I went to a Weight Loss Support Group. It was a nice small meeting and I got some good information! The group was lead by a Registered Dietitian who pro low-carb. Perfect for me! She had us do an exercise where she gave us a square of SF chocolate. She had us relax and clear our minds and then break off a small piece of the chocolate and just let it sit in our mouth and put the remainder down. I actually let my just melt. I think I made mine last a good 3, maybe even 4 bites. At the end, I was personally satisfied. Normally, I would just pop those in whole and have about 4 or 5, but with the Mindful Eating I was content after 1.
She gave us a flyer on Mindful Eating which had the following chart.
The Quality Calories aka Calories with integrity really stuck with me, esp since I'll be training for my next half marathon this fall. I need to work on eating food that FUEL my body.
Lastly, here were some more tips on implementing Mindful Eating.
-Don't Rush
-Consider the source
-Enjoy the experience
-question what you eat
-Avoid distractions
-Sit at a table
-love what you eat
-drink water (I have found drinking before my meal but not with my meal to be very beneficial)
I actually made an appt to speak to the dietitian one on one next week. Looking forward to that and hoping to have some great take aways.
