A little bit goes a long way

Saturday, September 17, 2016

I've had a terrible time consistently drinking enough water. I've tried flavored water, adding flavor to my tap water, insulated drink cups, bottled water, ice water...

I'm busy at work and let it get warm or I drink part of it and can't make myself finish it. Then I get to the end of the day and realize I have had very little water. I've made deals with myself - no Coke Zero until I drink a certain amount of water, etc.

My latest trick just might do it. I need a sense of accomplishment and ticking things off my list, so I bought some flats of 8 oz. bottled water. I put the whole thing in the fridge and get it good and cold and then grab the first one. Glug, glug, glug and gone. So refreshing, quick and easy. Check. One down, seven to go. When I empty one I refill with tap water and stick it back in the fridge. I'll do that a couple of times and then recycle the bottle.

My kick-off day was the first I can remember in a very long time where I managed eight 8-oz glasses of water. I was so excited and it was easy! I have diabetes, hypertension, one kidney (cancer) and recurring urinary tract infections. I NEED plenty of water, plus I know it will help with my weight loss.

Been out fishing all day. It's a small boat and a public lake so not too many opportunities to find a restroom and I don't tank the water when I'm out there. I'm home now and need to get busy, however, I may have to get up a couple of times tonight. lol

I have to get up anyway, Mel, so might as well get my water in. lol The older I get the less my bladder can make it until the morning. Was really tired last night and took a couple of Tylenol before bed. Slept straight through and did the pee-pee dance FAST all the way to the bathroom after bolting from bed.

I think the important part is to have a plan. It's like tracking food intake...helps keep us in touch with what we are really doing and if we are meeting out goals. 16 oz at multiple set times does the trick for you. It's a good plan and doing whatever works for each of us is the important part. Thanks for sharing. I'm only on my second little bottle today, but I'll catch up. Playing golf later. It's really dark now like it might bust out and rain any minute, but it's supposed to clear off.

Great! You have it figured in a way that helps you. I do just the opposite and drink 16 oz. at the time morning, after exercise, midday and at night( yes, I have to get up about 3:30 for bathroom) but this is pretty much an ever day habit now. Many days I drink more . emoticon

Good plan. I have to come up with something to help me remember to drink more. I get the water through iced tea (sweetened with Splenda) but I really need to drink some regular water.

That's a great idea. I drink water like there's no tomorrow but my mom is a camel. She likes those little ones too.
