Getting Blown Away

I mean that literally too, it's crazy windy here today. And I know that the season where I have to push myself the most is just around the corner.
I live on the Canadian prairies. I swear the wind starts to pick up in Alberta and gains speed until it slams into us here in Manitoba. It does that for most of the winter. Minus 10 feels like -50. Everything gets harder: putting on 10 layers of clothing, dragging, (I mean walking,) the dog through snowdrifts, going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Brrrrr. Getting out of bed is a challenge some mornings. And it's coming; today's cold wind is a not so gentle reminder. In the past this is when I go into full hibernation mode, stay on the couch and snack.
This year I'm planning on changing that. I bought myself a really swanky (and warm!) winter coat and mitts and even bought the dog a sweater. I'm looking into some exercise videos I can do in my little living-room and cleaned up my craft room, which is far far away from the kitchen. I've already got the good habits rolling, like no unhealthy snacks in the house and I've kicked my diet pop addiction (2 months now)
I planted 50 tulip bulbs yesterday, can't wait to see them come up in the spring!
