15. “I don’t know all the answers. I am uncertain and that’s ok.” How can I transform this experience from one of self-doubt to one of self-compassion?
Sometimes this is a try and fail situation. You can experiment with different things (foods and exercises) you can see what works for you and keep that in a journal. When you find yourself backed in a corner ask for help. We have many friends to go to to ask for help. We have self-help books we can read. I have several diet books and “The Spark” and “TOPS “guide and other material.
16. Whether this is your first attempt at weight loss/maintenance, understand that there may be battles along the way that keep popping up. Stay the course, re-route if necessary, but always remember there is always more than one path to your goal(s).
The recurring thing in my house hold is birthdays. I have learned a long time ago you cut your own piece of cake and ask for only a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The upcoming holidays were at one time hard for me because I loved baking and making candies at Christmas. Of course I was going to eat them too. I can’t stand long enough to make the candies and no one has stepped up to do it so I am avoiding a lot of sugar. I only eat one plate of food at Thanksgiving and Christmas and all left over food except the turkey is sent home with the children. I know pain has put me stationary at several points in my life and that is mainly were my weight gain came from. Fast foods and Jacks cooking was the menu but I made it to a stage were my pain was less and I could get back to the kitchen. I just didn’t try to get it off. I have no idea where this or how this last 10 pound gain came from, but it is going back off.
17. Appreciate those around you. If necessary, eliminate and /or avoid the naysayers…they will always be there, instead focus your gratitude on those who support you.
I can honestly say I do not have any negative people around me. I don’t have anyone who tells me to “eat this it won’t hurt you.” When those around me know I am really trying again I have encouragement.
18. They may hang a medal on Olympic winner, but that person had to do the work, stay focused on the goal and overcame many obstacles to receive that medal…no one did it for them. DO THIS FOR YOU!
I am in control of myself. The food I eat and the exercises and the length of time I exercise is totally up to me. I must set daily goals and meet them.
