Change of Thinking

Friday, October 21, 2016

Throught my mobile chat, other teams, I noticed a continueing thread with the struggle to reach goals of weight loss. One thought that stuck with me that I've seen multiple times is maybe it is the goal that is the struggle. We have challenges to help with weight loss and set a finite goal of weight to lose. Weight loss is the absolute goal but what I've seen on Spark People is that our goal is to be healthy by our diet and exercise as well as developing positive thoughts. The weight loss will follow.

I try to make that healthy diet and exercise as well as developing positive thoughts my goals. But years and years defining who I am by that scale is ingrained in me. Getting on the scale and seeing ounces rather than pounds lost gets me upset after I worked so hard gets me anxious.

Fact of the matter is that I lived a life with unhealthy habits and I give up too easy. If I don't see immediate results I want to throw in the towel. Really trying hard this time stick with it.

Just read your blog today 1/2/2021
Reminded me that we all need to focus on making our journey a healthier one by making the best daily choices. I think the scale often does not tell the whole story. Your words encouraged me!

The scale is a tool... but it so often can throw off a person's game. There are so many reasons why it doesn't go the direction that we want and can lead to giving up for many. I really can't see how a person can weigh daily. It is not for me. It is good to concentrate on health habit goals and keep the scale as a trend and not an affirmation on your self worth.

it takes 21 continuous days to make a new habit stick. you are going for a change of lifestyle . you have to record all the food eaten each day and the circle on your nutirtion page will tell you how well you are doing and from it you can see where you need to make changes with your nutrition

emoticon if you give up bad habits and dont lose weight you are still doing your body a world of good and maybe you will live longer to see the weight come off.
