Shiner Half Marathon

I don't want to be a drama queen... but I hope I always look back on this race, as the worst there was. LOL
The good news is... I finished. Yeah!
It's possibly this would be a completely different blog if not for 2 things.
1. I was still recovering from an asthma flare up and
2. It wasn't so frackin' windy.
The second did NOT help with problem #1. I will say it was a gorgeous course around some Texas farm country. Very different from city runs I'm used to. But seriously... that wind. It's was "gusty" 20 mph winds. Miles 3 - 6 were open country and running into the wind. Is it clear that I don't enjoy running in the wind? haha
There was also a real lack of course marshalls, and since I'm slow and was particularly slow this race, toward the end I found myself running solo. At some point I lost sight of the person ahead of me and missed a turn. ugh. Then my garmin died that last mile... which was the LONGEST mile. haha
My running buddies had much better runs, but we all agree'd we wouldn't be doing this half again. Some people do really love running this race and it is for a great cause, but I'm going to just mark this race off on my bucket list and move on.
So, there it is. Two halves done in 2016!
