Need clever ideas on gifting money to the grands

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Christmas is coming and I've given up shopping for the grands and great-grands.That means no worries about the wrong size, wrong style, returns, and giving something they already have. But, opening a card with money inside isn't tons of fun for kids in the 10- teenage category, either.

Last year I put cash in a toilet paper roll trimmed to fit inside a pint jar, wrapped the cardboard roll and then filled the jar with M&Ms and Skittles. They had to work a little for the cash that way. Guess I wrote kind of a goofy poem for them, too.

So, clever friends...please give me some new ideas on how to give them something more to open than just a card with money. Please???

Ok this might take some work. Make some soap and put the gift card or money inside the soap. As they wash their hands they will get closer to the money or gift card.

Roll coins, put in funny Christmas socks then wrap in interesting boxes (I save boxes for months). They like to see the boxes and the coins are heavy. You can also put "dollars" in some so they don't appear to be the same and vary the size of the boxes.

What a great idea you had last year - I would not have thought of doing something like that. I just send a card with money or gift card - no creativity. But now you have me thinking that I need to do something outside "the box". I like the pizza box idea.
    Have fun.

I found a DIY idea I sent off to my DIL. Take crayons and melt them into a clear glass Christmas ball so that it is speckled. Then you could add money in the ball and can decorate the hanger to where it's a little hard to take off and get to the money. Love the pizza shaped box and "pizza" idea as well. I send gift cards to the girls and they can go out shopping for something they like. The adults get a check. gotta think about this much more after tomorrow.

Get a pizza box and spread dollar bills in a pizza shape "One can not live on pizza alone ....you also need a little dough " write that on the inside lid ,the kids laughed & laughed but they were happy with their dough !!!!!

A friend told me this one,,, oh her family IS ROTTEN TO THE BONES with gift giving !! I laugh and laugh at some of the things they DO !!

Take a big box,,,,wrap it,,, put it inside of a little smaller box,, unwrapped,,, do this for 4 layers,,, than inside have a bag of HEALTHY cereal. Oh the kids are NOT IMPRESSED with this !! Than inside the cereal box,, noppers inside of the CEREAL have a gift card,,,, (Visa cards they LOVE can use ANY PLACE they choose).

Have their parents take a video of this,, it's a SCREAM !!

Wrap in in a big box or med size box and add weight a big rock? They will have no idea its cash till they open it!

Wrap in tiny box, wrapped in a small box, wrapped in a med box, wrapped in a large box!

Leave wrapped clues for them to do a hunt. Start with under the tree and go thought the house. If they are like my kids they will love the hunt as much as the gift....Happy Holidays🎄

I can't think of a thing. Last year's idea was good. I have done either put a fancy a fancy box or ornament on tree for them to find with money card attached or but a small present & attach money card. I also order gift cards on line. Good luck.
