I spent about 3 weeks getting ready for Thanksgiving this year - it's the first time I hosted for awhile. It's been a busy but rewarding couple of days.
Brandon, Shelly & Annie arrived on Wednesday evening. Annie and Daisy were so happy to see each other. They played and played, took out all Daisy's toys, and then went to their respective sides of the living room to rest - the first photo is Annie, the second is Daisy.
Daisy may have to join SparkDoggie - she is shorter than Annie, but is a lot stockier!
Thanksgiving day went very well. I had done so much of the prep work on Wednesday that everything came together perfectly. I meant to get a photo of the table BEFORE they dished up but there was a commercial running during the game so here's what it looked like AFTER.
And this is how we ate - not my choice but apparently life for these 4 is dependent on whether or not the Vikings win (unfortunately, they did not)
I almost forgot - I made 2 pies. A French Apple and an Eggnog Pumpkin. They both turned out amazing, and I don't typically make pies - and never tried pumpkin. I got the recipe from a spark friend GLAMNGLOWDIVA and my husband said it was the best pumpkin pie he's ever had.
After the game the kids all went through their boxes of school things that I had saved for them. It was an interesting activity and they shared a lot of laughter looking at things, but I was a bit disappointed that both my boys promptly disposed of almost everything. I guess they both adhere to the minimalist theory.
Here is Colin & Lauriellen
Lauriellen & her boyfriend Bryan
Lauriellen & Me (when she was a little girl I would have to FIGHT with Lauriellen to have her photo taken, and she almost always had a scowl on her face - now she lives getting her photo taken, go figure)
Brandon & Shelly playing cards - I wouldn't let them watch any more football after the Vikings game and I guess they were bored of Hallmark
The only photo I have of my oldest daughter Jessica was watching the game - she refuses to be in any photos. She is currently working on her own weight loss program!
And after everyone had gone home (except Shelly & Brandon who left this morning), Daisy took a much-needed nap.
I enjoyed every minute of Thanksgiving day - but I have to be honest and say that I am just as thankful for today. I have cleaned off my turkey, made stock from the bones, and we are eating left overs for dinner. It's been a wonderfully quiet day. Tom and I took Daisy for her walk which she and I both needed! I think it's only about 32 degrees but no wind which made it quite pleasant for walk.
I hope all of you had a good day yesterday.
