Day 62 - 100 Days of Gratitude

Monday, December 05, 2016

Today I am truly grateful for electrical power! OMG, How in the world did the pioneers do it!!! I lost power yesterday and could hardly function. I didn't want to keep opening the refrigerator because I didn't know how long the power would be off. Of course I couldn't cook anything. Last night no TV, no radio, just lying in bed under 3 blankets staring at the semi-dark. At 2:30 am, the power company calls to tell me the power is back on. After getting up, turning off all the lights, etc., I couldn't get back to sleep, so I made my lunch for work and went outside and cleaned the snow off my car (still outside because of the workmen's stuff in my garage). I'm just grateful to have my power back!

We live in snow country so my DH had a electrician install a back up generator. We have already used it once. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be either. Sorry yours went out. emoticon

You really miss those things we take for granted when something happens that we no longer have them.. I think of my grandparents so much. Living on the farm and how hard they to work.. I do not think I could have made it

It is good for us to be without our conveniences once in awhile. It truly does make us realize how lucky we are to be living life today rsther than 100 years ago.

Here's a little addendum to add Prestorjon's comment: The gift of workers who work in a dangerous environment to keep our power on. We would have lost a lineman last week if it were not for a fellow worker's immediate assistance.

I saw a quote once, "What if you lost everything you've forgotten to be grateful for." Jonnie...you're doing a great job of reminding me to be grateful.
