I'd just like to say how grateful I am today that I do not have to go anywhere. Watching the news tonight, seeing all the people struggling to get from one point to another while the wind blows and the snow swirls so much that you can barely see right in front of you. I remember those days, and it was not a fun experience.

Today I turned up the heat before I took Daisy outside. Her feet got cold within just a couple of minutes so I hurried her back in the house. We sat in my warm cozy room and had hot coffee - Daisy snuggling close to me on the couch. What could be better than that.

After the last couple of days, I really needed a perfect day like this. I wanted a nice hot dinner tonight so I found a new recipe for chuck roast with vegetables and had it going in the slow cooker by 11 a.m. We just finished one of the best roast beef dinners we've ever had. The best part - after about 20 minutes of prep this morning all I had to do was sit down and eat.

This entire day has been quite perfect like that. Tom had an appointment so he stopped at the bank to pick up the cash we need for Christmas gifts. I finished cleaning my house - with my knee still hurting I didn't get it all done yesterday. I have a few things yet to put away but that won't take too long. I've done some knitting, some laundry, some reading, and a bit more on-line shopping. Right now my candles are lit in the living room and I'm winding down for the day.

I hope everyone out there has had a good day today and for those of you who had to be out in this awful bitter cold - make sure to bundle up. Just going outside for a few minutes with Daisy I put on a hooded sweatshirt, a very warm soccer coach jacket my son gave me, a heavy wool scarf around my neck, my boots, and I sit with 2 blankets over my legs. You should see the way Daisy looks at me while I'm getting ready. And tomorrow I'm going to remember to take my cell phone because if I fell outside I'm sure Tom wouldn't find me for at least an hour!

Have a good night everyone.

Sounds like a cozy wonderful day at home dear Kathy. The only good thing I can say about winter is that it reminds us endless TYPE A personalities that there IS a season for down time and rest. The thing about constant sunlight and people, people, PEOPLE...is that you are ALWAYS on. I do miss some cozy 'in the house' time each year...but it's been SO very long since we've experienced it that I almost forgot about it until I read your blog.

Thanks for the reminder dear Kathy...sometimes we just need to burrow in and ignore the world outside. I plan on doing plenty of fireplace gazing and reflecting with your warm shawl on when we go to our B & B in N. Carolina. There...we will do some of the touristy things but I think plenty of time will be writing and cuddling over a cup of hot cocoa with my trusty computer. The only thing about the mountains is that sometimes a connection can be a problem...here's hoping I can still stay connected with my spark buddies!

We leave tomorrow a.m. and will drive about 1/2 way there to our fav hotel in Valdosta GA called The Drury Inn...it's a clean comfortable room with a nice little breakfast and a half way edible dinner. I'll look for the good stuff and pack some essentials in our cooler. Always have to be health motivated right?

    Huggers dear friend! emoticon

After your last few days, you needed a day like this and I'm glad you were able to have it.
I, too, love the crock pot--feels good to "do nothing" and have dinner ready.

Geeze, your day sounds wonderful btw! It sounded as if all is aok on the homefront and you are enjoying the security of the home you have worked so hard making it what you want it to be....And that my friend is the way it should always be like, just what you want! ;o) Awesomeness! ;o)
Hospice was so slow today so I did a little shopping. Found a great jacket/blazer, a herringbone pattern in black and camel. Will look great with a black turtle neck and my black slacks or cords. Love it! Found some puzzles for Kai and a designer came in and offered to assist me when I do New Years Eve theme for the windows in two weeks because my assistant will be off skiing some where......I had a great day too. And Lucy Lou is snoring ever so lovingly beside me. She wanted me to sing to her first which I did!!! HA! I am not kidding either.....!!!!!!

Be safe Kathy, it is sooo dangerous out there! And our weather has warmed up but the rain is unbelievable! Flooding and mudslides...we are getting a beating!

Well, about the only good thing about such bitterly cold weather is that it just magnifies the happiness of staying inside all day. What a perfectly cozy day you had!

Your day sounds both restful and productive. Wish I could send you some of our warm weather! I've had a craving for a beef stew I slow cook in the oven in a cast iron dutch oven. Think it's on the menu for Sunday. Keep warm and safe. emoticon
