Faith is 10 today!

Ten years ago at this time I was in sunny Roanoke holding my very first grandchild and my ONLY granddaughter. It wasn't as cold in Minnesota as it is this year but it was 75 degrees and sunny in Roanoke - a real plus.
Faith was somewhat of a miracle. She was conceived by in vitro fertilization and it was my daughter's third try. The first two times weren't viable so when Rachelle called to tell us that she was really pregnant this third (and last) time we were so excited. Faith was even more special to me because she was born just 3 months after my mother passed away.
I loved those many days I spent with them. Faith was so small, smaller than any of my babies. She was born about 3 weeks early but that worked out for me because they called me from the hospital the night before to tell me she was coming the next day - if not naturally, then they would induce. I booked a flight for early Saturday morning and worked out all the details to be covered for work.
She has been an amazing child. I was able to spend her first birthday with her because I had to travel to Washington DC for work at the right time. This is my favorite birthday photo of her
She started walking on that visit - how exciting that was. When I was working I could take side-trips to Roanoke for a few days so it was easier to see the kids. Since I've been unemployed and now retired, those visits have become fewer and fewer. But I'm so grateful for all my grandchildren. The funny thing about that is - the doctor told Rachelle she could not have any more children, not even via in vitro. She was pretty depressed over that until she got pregnant about 6 months later - and then we got Reese. And then she was pregnant again - and now we've got Jamie John as well. Faith is such a good big sister.
This is her when Reese was born
And last summer with her mom - she's gotten so tall (her dad is well over 6')
I am one lucky Grandmother!
