My 2017 Fitness Goal - I am Running a Half-Marathon on April 30!

Happy New Year!
I hate to sound like a Grinch, but I am so happy that the holiday season is over and that the temptation of holiday food and parties is behind me. I find that time of year VERY difficult and always seem to put a bit of weight on during the month of December.

Since June 2014, I have lost about 30 lbs. and I have never felt better. I have struggled with those damn 30 lbs. for years, and somehow they always find their way back. I am determined that this time will be different. So when the holidays approached, I felt dread! I did not want to backslide and I struggled from Thanksgiving through NYE. My self-doubt and negative narrative seem to get the best of me. I definitely overate and I made some bad choices. But, once again, I am determined to make this time different. I have simply felt too good, too alive, to go backwards now.

So in order to fuel my fitness efforts, I have decided to train for a half-marathon scheduled for April 30. I already run between 15 to 18 miles per week, so running a half is something I can absolutely work towards. It's been a dream of mine for YEARS but I have always been too afraid. NOT THIS TIME! I have registered for the run and I have already started my training program. I literally visualize myself crossing the finish line and it overjoys me.

I am going to blog about my training efforts and my journey in order to help keep myself on track. I hope that some of you will follow along as your support is so appreciated and needed. I love this community and I love how positive everyone is. Here's to an excellent new year filled with family, fun, fitness and faith. emoticon
