Day 2 of pushup challenge

I can't do a pushup to save my life. I half-assed my way through them yesterday, and today...ugh. I had to do the second set on my knees. No upper body strength at all. It hurts. I don't know how I'm going to get to 50 pushups ever, much less by the end of the month.
Two days of exercise and mindful eating...and I gained a pound. Don't anybody try to tell me that I'm gaining muscle. Nobody gains a pound of muscle in 48 hours. I'm gonna chalk it up to small muscle inflammation/water retention after starting to lift weights, and hope that it's temporary. I'm going to add in 30 minutes of cardio in addition to the strength training, so maybe that will help.
I guess I should make another goal where I stop trying to define progress by the number on the scale, but it sure would be nice to see those numbers get smaller.
