Day 130/Figuring out our new curriculum

Tuesday, February 07, 2017

emoticon I think we finally have finally figured out what our new curriculum will be. My friend C is going all the way Rod and Staff (R&S), and I hate to seem like I'm copying her, but all the reviews I read said that R&S have a great grammar program for if you need a flexible program and need review at older ages (like my 5th grader). We are already doing R&S social studies and math because I saw her books and was like, that is just what I need! I didn't have a social studies curriculum because I couldn't find one! I guess I didn't really know where to look. The 5th grade book is just what my 5th grader needs because she's never worked out of a book like this and it is a skill she needs to learn, even if we are bumping heads over it. The 3rd grade book is perfect for youngest DD, and though I don't agree with some of the religious stuff put in there, it opens conversation for me and the girls, which I love.

I can teach them the basics of Excel and Word, but I'd like a program to teach them more, later. And I want to start on a foreign language. They want Japanese, I've always wanted to learn that, so I think Fall semester we will go for it! For now this is going to be a lot. We are going to a completely different curriculum, and one that digs a lot deeper than the one we were on. I didn't realize just how surface the other curriculum was, til I looked at these other books. Wow. I can't wait to dive in! I'll be learning just as much as the kiddos will be, and I'm looking forward to it. Especially history.

My neck is really hurting and stiff this morning, will probably have to spend some time on the heating pad today. Not going to work out because I'm just not feeling good today at all. I may try to at lunch time if this goes away, but I feel like I've done something to my neck and I don't want to exacerbate it.

Going grocery shopping this morning. Mainly because I need laundry soap. And veggies. I'm out of veggies. And hummus. Can't be out of hummus!

I filled a mis-matched tube sock with rice and cinnamon and rubber-banded the end. I stich it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds and then put it around my neck. That way I am not tied to a cord. Hope your neck feels better soon.

I didn't like the village when I went to school, let alone when my children went. I opted for a private school; I give you so much credit for home-schooling. I don't think I'm smart enough. My granddaughter will go to a private school also. Only the best!
