First Gratitude Journal Entry
Tuesday, February 28, 2017
I often read about gratitude journals but haven't taken the time before to do it. Today I knew it was the day for the first. I have so much to be grateful for.
I felt the urge to write it while I was walking on the trail around my yard this morning. To start off everything was such a brilliant shade of green from the recent rains. The long side of my rectangular lot has a creek running all along the side of it. It sparkled today. About halfway through the first side a couple of wild ducks flew up into the air. On the next side I saw all the neighbors' baby sheep that have been born recently kicking up their heels and playing. They must also like that it is spring. On the other long side I saw my neighbors' cow and goat peacefully grazing in their field. On the back yard side my chickens had just laid a beautiful egg which was still warm and my goat gobbled down a couple of large chunks of grass that I had picked out of my garden boxes on the way. Also my faithful dog Roxie was with me during the entire walk.
Earlier in the morning I had done a little clearing out of an old hot tub that I have turned into a raised bed planter now off my deck. So cook to see the little plants that are starting to sprout. Even cooler to see the little frogs in what I call the frogaterrium. It is the hot tub cleaning pit covered by a plastic cover. When I lift the cover I see a whole bunch of small frogs sunning themselves on the shelves inside.
There were a few daffodils, a lone african daisy flower on the clump by the door, almond trees in bloom, and several other blooming fruit trees.
So much to see in my yard. The path around the yard is a little over half a mile. It makes a wonderful place to walk and every loop seems to bring something different. I consider myself very lucky to have it along with my house and wonderful husband. I also am really glad that God made spring!
