Finding the right balance of Nutrition with Chronic Illness

This is my second time around on SP. I was going strong the first time, but my illness took a more severe downturn. I've been mainly housebound for well over a year and barely able to function even at home. My pain levels were intolerable and my energy levels plummeted. There have been times the weakness alone caused severe anxiety and fear of where I was heading. I decided to get back on spark to track not only calorie intake, but detailed nutrition as well.
I started moving in baby-steps toward a whole food diet in 2012 and have lost and maintained a 60 lb. weight loss. I've been total whole foods for 2 1/2 years now. I could not understand with a healthy diet, why I was still in energy deficit. I am discovering now that I was not eating near the amount of healthy food I should have been. I rarely feel hungry due to being so weak and sick. In just 4 days, I am recovering my energy and functional abilities. I have been tracking the vitamins and nutrients that impact the nervous system, brain, and muscles. I am seeing improvements in pain with the exception of the days after I exercise. I'm working up to exercise and activity slowly this time. I want to avoid any long term set backs. I am eating more in a day now than I have in years and feeling better for it. I am thankful beyond words for the knowledge I am gaining knowing it will lead to better health and a higher quality of life. My fiance is blown away, bless his heart, and is totally on board with a healthy lifestyle. He doesn't have the health issues that I do, but he was feeling pretty worn down with his 3rd shift lifestyle. He is already feeling more up and able too. I don't believe there is a one size fits all approach to health and weight loss. SP is a Godsend for anyone needing to tailor their nutrition, activity, and lifestyle needs to their personal circumstance. I'm living in the moment knowing that each moment by moment choice is leading to...BETTER!
