Day 35 of 100 Days of Gratitude

Friday, April 21, 2017

I'm struggling again. I lost 5 1/2# during the first two months in my temporary location and that is hard to do with lots of meals out, free time (to snack), etc. I was so pleased. But I letting my emotions control my eating instead of ME controlling my eating and regained it.

So yesterday was Day 1 of breaking my lifelong--(on & off)) addiction to diet soda (after I'd been soda free for 6 wks then caved for 3 weeks). The news tonight reported a respected study that indicates that diet soda increases our tendency toward dementia and stroke. I am grateful for that research because it gives me even a stronger reason to stop this habit of mine. It's easier for me to quit other triggers, too, (chocolate, snacks, etc.) if I don't drink the soda. Here's a motivation that might work.

A friend just texted me the data of that report... and I responded "And not cancer, too? They get us hooked on this stuff and THEN test it." Just stay away from everything that doesn't pop up naturally out of the ground.
I'm getting hooked on the sweetness of fruit. Gotta have something.

Fell off the wagon myself yesterday. Today, predictably, the cravings were rampant. It's an ongoing struggle, but we're worth it!
