Back From Dinner

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Well we got back a while ago and there was only four of us there. me, my daughter and my friend and her husband. Who I believe has bad feelings when it comes to dogs based on the fact he got bit when he was a child. He regaled us with stories of children being bit by dogs as if to say all dogs are bad Not all dogs attack people and he only heard one side of the story and not the whole thing. He doesn't know whether or not the dogs were aggravated first or not. He is ultimately prejudiced against dogs. Our dog was not vicious at all; she was the sweetest and gentlest dog there ever was.

We did not say anything to antagonize him just gently refuted him saying not all dogs are like that. He did most of the talking before dinner and his wife got in a few words now and then. Maybe next time more people will be around and we will not have to hear him talk about dogs again. It is upsetting to us to hear him go on after we have lost our dog. Her son and daughter were both working so I only got to say a few words to them when she went to pick them up.

I guess you could say it did not quite go as well as I thought it would. Maybe because we have been out of touch so long She had a nice meal of tacos using both chicken and venison. Unfortunately nothing I ate stayed with me again.

We know people who are unreasonably afraid of dogs and we just gently change the subject to something else-rather like politics. I refuse to argue with people who have differing opinions when there are so many other topics one can talk about.

Sorry things didn't work out like you thought they would but hopefully another time things will go better.

That's for sure. I'm afraid of birds, but that doesn't make me want to harm one. Too bad conversation took such a turn. emoticon

I guess we all have our unreasonable areas. I remain afraid of birds ever since someone's parakeet flying loose in the house got tangled in my hair when I was very young.

I am afraid of dogs, too, or at least dogs that are larger than cats. I know it isn't logical, but there it is.

I understand how upsetting this must have been. Try not to let this bad experience ruin your mood. This person has a negative attitude due to something that happened years ago. Next time, just don't respond to him and enjoy your meal with your daughter and your friend. Don't let him ruin the day for you.
