You know, people over exaggerate a lot, so when I was warned that my new neurologist was VERY brisk and had NO bedside manner and that I should find another doctor; I shrugged it off.
But, wow, was this man BRISK! Wouldn't let me elucidate on anything. NO bedside manners at all and talked so fast it was hard to keep up with answering him. BUT he knew what he was talking about. The man loved the sound of his own voice and kept up a constant dialogue even when he was running me through a series of tests (touch my finger to his finger then my nose and back and forth). He said it was obvious I had migraines (didn't tell me which test told him that, just that it was obvious). He was almost flippant about my concern about serotonin syndrome with some of the meds together, but he rambled out some facts and told me he had seen only one case in 25 years of practice. But even with saying that he changed me to a different med that didn't have as much risk for it, gave me a sample, and said to call if I had any concerns or problems.
Sometimes it's not about bedside manners, but about knowing what you are talking about. I'd rather have a very brisk doctor that knows his stuff, than a friendly one that had no idea what he was talking about.
So last night I was getting some cardio (hehehe) when my head exploded again! Can't blame that one on high blood pressure, my blood pressure has been amazing since they upped the dosage on my blood pressure med. But what a migraine it was, omg. I could not sleep for the longest, and this morning woke having the hardest time staying awake, which is weird. Only a very few times in all these weeks of only getting 2-4 hours of sleep a night have I had a hard time staying awake the next day. Most of the time I feel more energized than if I had slept a whole night. So I took my new migraine med and went and laid down... I had some of the most vivid dreams I have ever had, but my migraine is mostly gone now. Still kinda there, need to take one more dose to get rid of it completely, but I think this will work!!
SO, DH bought me:
(coffee cup for size... it's a smaller coffee cup too, lol)
For my birthday!!
So I made:
(before I got the bento box... Amazon has been slow getting stuff in)
Then I went on a shopping spree at the grocery store in the Asian and organic sections! Things like miso paste, tamari, mirin, rice paper wrappers, nori.... to name the few I can remember the names of! Reminds me I need a few items I can only get online or at an Asian market... Tried kelp treats, sea salt flavor. Tasted like sushi but really fishy... needs the rice and stuff with it to calm the flavor down, yucky! But maybe I can come up with some purpose for them, like mini sushi rolls or something... or maybe the garbage will like the taste of it! LOL
Rice or rice noodles are the main ingredient in bento boxes, but I can also use bean thread noodles in place of rice noodles. And brown rice or other kinds of rice I have discovered that are more healthy. I have to watch my carb intake thanks to diabetes so I've got to make healthy carb choices. But I really think that making bento boxes for lunches will make lunch fun and more healthy. The main item in most actual bento boxes is the veggies, not the meat (like the one I made above), so I'll get lots of really neat veggies in.
So tonight once I get rid of this migraine, I'm going to pre-make some things for bento boxes throughout the rest of the week and see what I can make with what I've got. Doesn't have to be fancy or cute, just veg heavy and yummy
Hoping DH will smoke a turkey this weekend, having some turkey ready will make the lunches that much easier next week, I'll just have to fix the veggies!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!!
