Queen Victoria's coronation and birthday tea celebration

Sunday, May 07, 2017

I have not posted for a very long time and simply put, got out of the habit. I got a phone call this morning from a dear friend asking me was I free today. She had an opening at her table for a wonderful Victorian tea in a garden of a historic home, because of illness a cancellation became my birthday present. Todays weather has been showers off and on, an awning was set up just in case it rained, it was breezy and a bit chilly so we had the servers replenishing our teapot often. Now none of this food was diet except the fruit, but it was all delicious and took 2 hours start to finish. I took some pictures I'll share with you and I'll be on the end with my hostess (I'm the one in the red hat, 200 lbs). Some people were dressed in period costumes, there was a portrait of the Queen whom we toasted with apple cider, and a poem was read that was written a long time ago. I have a shot of a bird house in the design of the home but I didn't take any of the house itself or the carriage house or pump house or gazebo. For entertainment we got to listen to the harp. Lemon curd and Devonshire cream were delish.

That's interesting. I am surprised that that could happen in the US as I generally thought you were certainly anti monarchy. This rarely ( that I know of anyway )happens up here in Canada (although Victoria Day is a statutory holiday- 2 weeks from now I think -third Monday in May), Glad you enjoyed yourself.
