Bloomsday May 2017

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

The last several weeks I have thought about writing a Blog . I did Bloomsday May 7th Then I enjoyed a week of having my brother (Tom) home for a week..
Spark Guy reminds us to blog to share how we are doing on the journey . Sharing is a great way to have a good trip on the Spark trail . Nothing fancy We just need to share how the journey is going.
it’s a good place to ask for help if the journey is not going well some has had the same struggle and just might have a great tip for the journey.
share a victory with the scales or a none scale victory.

I kept telling myself I will do it tomorrow. This morning a spark Friend posted a note she enjoys checking our for Blogs by friends but often wonders where are they ? She motivated me to take the time and Just DO It as they say. Thanks Jan here it my Bloomsday blog
Tom arrive home on Saturday May 6 the first flight out of Denver 9:30 AM ! off to pick up our race packets and the trade show to see what we could find . We had fun shopping found some Zip Fizz a grilling pad for the BQ it works great. We used it several times while he visited. A walk in our downtown park before the rain came and home for lunch and a tour of the mall . Tom needed shoes and did not see anything at the trade show he likes New balance .

Time for Church where Father had a special blessing for runners that we have a safe journey on the race course.

Home from church we had our usual pre race dinner. Pasta French Bread and part one of Toms birthday celebrations Sat we enjoyed Birthday Cake.

Tom and his cake with a special candle that when it opened it played Happy Birthday until you put it in water!
A few presents to finish the evening .

The weather man told us all week it would nice and sunny for Race day !

When we got up at 6 Am to ready it was gray rainy and chilly dressed in layers in hopes if the weather improving . the rain stopped but the skies were still gray as you see . in the boxes are the reward for finishing the race our shirts . the boxes are sealed and guarded until the race is underway .
heading to my start area
The sun came out by the start of the race for the none elite runners the race has staggered starts and takes an hour and half to get everyone across the start line. Start line

By mile 4.5 the staff at the medical aid stations were offering to spray the walkers with sun screen ! and had small piles of sweat pants and shirts to go back to Good Well

I left at 10:00 AM and 2 hours and 44 minutes latter I crossed the finish line .I was not the fastest in pack but I was not the last t return home . My Woo hoo was I improved my time by 40 mins.
I was moving right along then hit the point of wondering why am I doing this but heard my Spark team cheering on and I did it finish and it felt great .

Learned a huge lesson even though some shoe companies say they have the best shoe for walking and they sales person said they were great for walking long distances . I should have know better that you need tie shoes not slip on shoes with stretchy elastic in place of ties when I got home I had two huge blisters in my outer ankle.
Thankful they healed without any problems.
Tom had to wait over an hour for me he did the race in
under two hours which was his goal . Yes I plan to join the masses again in 2018 and plan on improving my time again my goal is to finish in 2 hours 20 minutes.
Thanks Jan for the push to Blog .

Thanks for stopping by it felt good to get back to bloging.
