personal space in the grocery line

my daughter and i went to wegmans the other day. we had a great shopping experience. love their produce. i was loadind groceries, paying for, and then loading back into the cart while Ashlea was holding the cart. she uses the cart so we don't have to bring her walker with us into the grocery store. it's much easier on both of us. she also wears orthotics, AFOs to be precise. she has new balance sneakers with built-in shoe horns. normally when she has an issue she will say mommy i'm having a problem. well, not thursday.
this guy behind us in the checkout line apparently was literally on her heels, not figuratively. she told me the guy was really close and kept banging into her legs and got caught up on her, but i was busy and didn't want to bother me. as we were getting to the car she tells me this. i told her next time tell me when it's happening no matter how busy.
she continues in the car to tell me how scared she was b/c she could not move at one point, but she was finally able to break lose from his cart. i told her not to worry i would check her shoes when we got home since we were slmost there any way.
we get home. her shoe horn, which is riveted in to her shoe is half ripped out. her brace itself is damaged. not broken but it's defintely damaged. i'm hoping hanger can fix both. i called wegmans and asked if there's any way to find out who this guy is. she said with a police report, yes. she looked at the footage and could see exactly what was going on. the one time Ashlea doesn't say anything and I'm not paying attention to all of my surroundings.
i filed the police report and he will go down to wegmans and get the info needed and i can pick it up next week. i told the officer it's almost $4000 in hardware below her knees and people need to back the bleep off, but i did not bleep it for the officer. he asked if i wanted to press criminal charges. i told him when he looks at those tapes, if it looks intentional, yes! if not, no, but Ashlea's insurance company may want reimbursement if that one brace and her shoes have to be replaced.
lesson here, give people their personal space!!
