Fact: For every pound of weight you lose, the stress on your knees drops fourfold. Losing 5 pounds lightens their load by the equivalent of 20 pounds, 10 by 40,15 by 60, and so on. Losing weight is the simplest , most effective thing we can do to pull joints back from their aching point.

Since I suffer from a bad knee (broken cartilage) I am so pleased to add another reason for losing weight.

You don't have to beat your body up to get a good workout. Brisk walking,swimming, and bicycling are low-impact activities that are kind to knees.
