In need of some advice!!

Hi ya'll.. well it's been almost a year since I have been on here. Needless to say, I have fallen off the weight loss wagon, in fact.. the wagon done run me over! LOL..
Here is my problem: I can not eat Avocados, Bananas, Almonds, Broccoli, & a few other choice items.. My belly swells up & I seriously look 8 months pregnant. Normally, I just have a spare tire around my middle (I blame the beer for that). What's the scoop? Why does my belly do this? I have had my gallbladder & stomach checked twice.. no issues there.. no ulcers.. I am even trying essential oils! Sometimes they work to reduce the bloat, sometimes they don't.. any thoughts??

**A little back story, I was at 245lbs at my highest. I decided I was done with that business so I went very low carb, walking on lunch every day & going to the gym twice a week. I did great, lost 65 lbs over 2 years.. then.. divorce happened, which for me was a good thing.. however, I met someone new & boy howdy do we eat! we love to cook & go out & drink beer & what not..
**Present time.. I have gained 30 lbs in the last 2 1/2 years. steadily going up. I was put on Phentermine last summer & it worked, for a little while. then I guess my body got used to it & BAM.. weight came back with a vengeance.

    You are a member of many teams, including "Team Keto!" which I am a leader of. So I'll go at this from a Keto point of view.

    I view Keto as a winter time diet. A time when high carb things just aren't around. I view higher carb things as a summertime diet, a time to fatten up for the winter. Your body just follows its instincts, and bio-chemistry, and packs on body fat for the winter to come. But with global trade summertime foods are available in the grocery store all year round. Chances are that bananas (which you mentioned) don't even grow where you live, ever.

    I'm a type-2 diabetic, so I have medical reasons to avoid carbs, but in my opinion carbs are pure fuel, typically with virtual no nutrition. I view foods by what fraction (or percentage) of their weight is carbs. Here is your partial list from your post:

    - Avocados (2%) -- a lot more carbs if you count fibre, but fibre is not digestible
    - Bananas (20%)
    - Almonds (10%)
    - Broccoli (4%)
    - Beer (3%)

    So the bananas and almonds are pretty big carb things, and I don't eat them. Beer is relatively low, but it is a liquid. Lets say you drank 3 bottles of beer, each 12 ounce can has about 10 grams of carbs, and three cans would be 30 grams. Frankly that is at the top end of my daily range right there.

    Think of a "diet" as what you typically eat, not "I'll eat this way until ... and then back to normal".

    Lots of healthy food choices out there, many people don't eat avocados. Bananas have always caused me to have a lot of gas, but I realized lately that the no longer do, sometimes we are just no used to higher fiber foods.

    There are plenty of other healthy foods out there! You can always just not eat the ones you've named. You've got this!
