Dr Visit Not So Good

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Yesterday was my 6 month check up. My A1c went in the right direction but most of the other #s went the wrong direction, including weight. STRESS. Dr finally convinced me to temporarily take a statin to try to reduce my cholesterol levels. He said mom's leaky valves could be due to high cholesterol levels and mine has been high since I first had it checked when I was 30. He did give me the lowest dose of the mildest one to minimize the risk of side effects and said when I lose the weight I could get off it. (I intend to hold him to it) MORE MOTIVATION TO LOSE THE WEIGHT ASAP! Next appointment will be in 3 months instead of 6. I need to start tracking trends more regularly so I can analyze what's actually working and what's not. I haven't been able to do this since I rejoined the workforce almost 3 years ago.(when I stopped losing weight) I think it's time to invest in a new charger for my Surface so I can use it MORE easily and restart all my old spreadsheet charts comparing calories in and out and tracking deliberate walking and weight training so I can see progress on one or 2 pages not shifting from page to page constantly like I have to on the spark and fitbit apps. So last night we had a HUGE Greek salad for dinner, heavy on the veggies with a bit of feta and no dressing. Of course since it was only the second meal of the day for me I added dessert afterwards. (I did manage to stay in my calorie range) I have to work on eating veggies / drinking lower calorie fluids more regularly again and avoiding sweets more. Goals for next visit- 1. Lose 5 to 10# 2. Track everything more consistently 3. Eat more veggies 4. #s down across the board Well it's time to get ready for work again. Hope you have a great day!

I'm so sorry to see that there's all this stress in your life. Stress isn't usually a good thing. emoticon
Good luck with the nutrition goals. Increasing vegetables and decreasing sweets is a step in the right direction. It's hard but doable for you. I have faith in your ability to reign this in. I struggle with sweets also. For me I have to cut them out ruthlessly, I have no willpower to cut back. I try though.

You can do this. I'm cheering for you. If you ever need to talk... you have my phone #. Sometimes, just being able to talk out the stress helps... of course, you KNOW that PRAYER helps too. Love ya
