Restaurant Diet unsuccessful

Thursday, September 14, 2017

I knew that two lunches out in a row (Red Lobster and Applebee's) would affect my weigh in this morning, and it did. Happy that I only gained 3/4; friends wanted me to go to lunch after meeting, made excuses, just had to stop the string and get some trackable food in me. So far it's been a pretty good day. My new Fitbit is registering well, 13k+, a little short of my 15k but too many meetings today and just ran out of time. In my small weight loss group today we talked about food plans that had worked for us in the past, as well as tips for keeping on track now. They pretty much agreed with ones we've heard about on Spark; not depriving oneself, not eating after dinner; I obviously didn't deprive myself of too much this past week, am trying to put the no eating after dinner into practice so I have at least a full 12-14 hour fast going. Was reminded today that nearly half of September is in the books, and I am still not close to those initial September goals. I can still do this but the restaurant diet of this past week will have to change.

It's too bad when you feel like you have to make excuses to your friends because you don't want to eat out. Seems like nearly everything we do socially revolves around food. It's hard to make good choices when you eat out. Who can turn down Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits? Takes a lot of will power. I don't eat out often, but when I do I make it a habit to ask for a to go box when the food is served. Half of my food goes straight into the box before I start eating. You can easily make two meals out of restaurant size portions because they are so big. I get the evening munchies so not eating after dinner is a great strategy too. Best wishes for meeting your September goals.

Eating at restaurants kills me, too. No matter how circumspect I am with the food, it's so salty that my weight is up for a couple of days.

Every time I eat out I gain but it is mostly from the high salt content. Hang in there! We can do this!

Sometimes you need to say hey, I need to this so I know I can stay on the wagon. Let your friends know you can't go to Applebee's and Red Lobster all the time. They should understand.
