THE BODY SLOW DOWN

AS WE BECOME OLDER THINGS SLOW DOWN, DUE TO LIMITED MOBILITY, SLOWED DOWN METABOLISM, LIFE CHANGES AND PEOPLE MOVE IN AND OUT OF YOUR PATH- FRIENDS BECOME FEWER, GOALS FOR YOUR FUTURE ARE NOT AS LONG LASTING, ETC.
I HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES BUT REFUSE TO SIT AND WAIT FOR THINGS TO COME TO ME. I GET UP IN THE MORNING AND THANK GOD FOR THE PAIN IN MY KNEES OR BACK THAT LET ME KNOW I AM STILL ALIVE. I WORK OUT WITH WEIGHTS 4-5 TIMES WEEKLY AS STANDING FOR PERIODS OF TIME INDUCES PAIN. I WALK SHORT DISTANCES. I KEEP MOVING! i COOK, SEW, DO CRAFTS, ETC. I KEEP MOVING! DO NOT SIT IN THE CORNER AND CRY POOR PITIFUL ME. YOU WILL HURT SITTING STILL, SO GET UP AND PARTICIPATE.
THE SLOWED METABOLISM THAT COMES WITH AGE MAKE DIETARY CHANGES DESIRABLE. I TRY TO EAT SMALLER PORTIONS, LESS FATTY FOOD, HEALTHIER FOOD OPTIONS, BETTER PREPARATION TECHNIQUES TO GET THE MOST NUTRITION. I STAY AWAY FROM FAST FOOD. I SHART PORTIONS WITH MY DINING PARTNER, OR BOX PART OF IT UP FOR ANOTHER DAY.
ACTIVITIES THAT I DO WITH OTHERS HAVE LESSENED. LESS PEOPLE COME INTO MY HOME AND LIFE NOW, AS THEY ARE BUSY WITH CHILDREN, AND GRANDCHILDREN. I AM INVOLVED IN TWO COMMUNITY GROUPS THAT KEEP ME CONNECTED WITH OTHERS AND MY MIND BUSY. I ACTUALLY USE MY ROLLATOR MORE WHEN i KNOW THE ACTIVITY OF THE DAY WILL REQUIRE MORE WALKING, SO THAT I CAN SIT AND REST WHEN NEEDED.
THE BIGGEST GOALS FOR MY LIFE NOW ARE SHORTER TERM. I JUST WENT TO A MAGNIFICIENT WEDDING IN CHICAGO AND HAD A WONDERFUL ROAD TRIP GOING TO PLACES THAT I HAVE NEVER BEEN. THE ROLLATOR HELPED ME TO PARTICIPATE IN MORE AND BE ACTIVE WITH OTHERS. SATURDAY I WENT WITH MY SISTER TO A CRAFT FAIR AND ENJOYED THE COOL BUT CRISP AIR WITH SUNSHINE. I HAVE A YOUNGER FRIEND WHO I HAVE A WEEKLY OUTING WITH THAT KEEPS ME GOING.
JUST KEEP MOVING.
