Taking TIME to SAVOR every moment...

Monday, December 11, 2017

....saw this funny pic this morning - isn't that just like US sometimes during the Christmas season? ....speeding along. Lol! so many parties, recitals, programs, award events....and don't let me get started on the out of town drives to sports events....although I AM proud of our local schools competing in conference games! hee-hee. But it all adds up... emoticon

This year as I sat down to fill in our family calendar, I purposed in my heart to say "yes" to only those choices that are near & dear to the hearts of my children & husband...and I let everything else GO!

Can I just say - BOOYAH?!!! emoticon emoticon because, I have been able to truly savor every moment of this month and here we are on the 11th day.

I have embraced these images LOTS during December, and they have enabled me to have peace and joy!

waking up to peace, taking time for ME...

fitness first! yeppers...

Christmas = Others and showing them Love

Giving Back....reaching out unconditionally

And you've gotta keep the humor coming!! ...it's all about perspective, right?

But the Magic? well...that would be His Spirit which must accompany all of us every day. HE is the secret ingredient in a well savored December.

I am still indulging in lots of Christmas traditions such as: baking goodies, decorating the inside and outside of our home, caroling and wrapping gifts to hide for Christmas day etc, but our family also remains open to NEW traditions which is like a different sort of glue that connects us. I practice listening to my children's creative ideas, and sometimes swap them for old traditions. It keeps us close and happy.

I am glad I have said "no" to countless musical opportunities to perform for clubs, churches or out of town gigs - in times past, it has kept me running like a half-crazed mom/musician, and has robbed me of how lovely, quiet and restful this time of year CAN be. So GLAD I made my decision to say, No.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon What are YOU doing to savor the Christmas season?

I could have written this blog as this is exactly where I am this year.

Taking time to celebrate those around me and our Lord and Savior.

    God Bless you, Laura

Many of us are paring back in various ways. It is better for all involved.

Very good guidelines. A frazzled person is not much fun and not good for one’s health either.

I love your blog today! I too made my mind up a while ago t not do this Holiday Frizzle any more. I use to make 100 dozen cookies, fudge, peanut brittle and other treats. Now I spend the weekend before Christmas making cut out cookies with my granddaughter. I've been doing that with her since she was three. I make homemade peanut brittle and that is it. Who needs all that sugar? I certainly don't! The day after Thanksgiving is our day (mine and my granddaughter's) we spend the whole day putting up my Christmas Village. I put the lights in the houses and she sets up the village how she wants. It takes her hours and it keeps her entertained. My son is married and they go up to Hibbing, MN to visit with her folks. They spend 3-4 days there. I don't mind, because they are at my house on Thanksgiving and I have a little get together on New Years. On Christmas Day I'm going to sip my coffee and stay in my jammies all day with hubby, CeCee and my daughter!
