My Adventures in spark land...lesson I learned from the TV show 24

Wednesday, March 07, 2018

I am unsure how many of you remember or even watched the TV show '24'. The whole season takes place in live time. 24 episode per season and each episode covers 1 hour.

Yesterday I finished watching season two. A nuclear bomb was set to go off in LA. They chased from one lead to the next leads. When they found it, they could not disarm it so some male drove a plane with the bomb in it to a safe area and blew up with the bomb. The pres of the US was about to start WWIII to get back at 3 countries who he felt was responsible for the bomb. 3 hours from the attack new facts came in about people right in the USA responsible. When the pres told the planes to wait until these new facts were in, the VP of the USA dethrowned the pres. At the end the pres was reinstated when the facts came in that indeed it was not these 3 countries that were behind the bomb.

What hit me hard when I was watching this was:
A) When the main char was chasing down leads on who was behind the bomb, every person he talk to said 'It wasn't to happen like this. The bomb was never to go off'. The reason they all were involved is because of their anger towards someone!
B) Before each person 'talked' they asked for a pardon. They knew what they were doing was wrong but they didn't want to pay the price for their actions.
C) The pres said a good leader is patient.....waits on the facts.

The message after 24 hours was clear to me, when we act in anger, we have no control of the out come!

No I am not angry. The message I got was so powerful, I wanted to share it. That if we act in anger, we have no control. We could harm ourselves as well as others. When we calm down we felt guilty for what our out of control anger has done. So think next time you are anger before you act.

Yes I have been deeply hurt many times from other peoples actions while they are angry. This is what has caused PTSD in my life. This maybe the rut of my IBS.

Yes I had a wonderful day yesterday.
*I made cupcakes (from a box). I think I've made cupcakes before. Unsure. I ended up with 23 instead of 24 and all 23 puffed up over the pan. Oops I filled them too full!
*I made real mash potatoes for the 2nd time. I got the potatoes from the local store. Not only were they more expensive then what I was use to but their quality was not that good.
*I made hamburger gravy
*I washed ALL my dishes

Day #77 of winter. Temp is 21 and sunny.
Two days until my son's 'Spring Break'!

Keep sparkling!!!

You're right - acting in anger rarely comes out with a positive result.

Different types of potatoes are good for different kinds of cooking - some are better for baking, some for boiling and mashing, some for just boiling and eating. Google on potato varieties.

Our sons are on same spring break schedule. I told him how wonderful it is going to be to come home and see what he deep cleaned for the day. He looked at me like I was crazy. A girl can dream, right? *wink*

I never get the full number of cupcakes unless I use same number of spoonfuls for each one.

I do remember the show 24 hours. I have no anger and if I a little not positive, I immediately read one of my devotions and back up I come. Not only that, I have started doing work around the house, a little at a time and I quit, I feel pleased with myself. Have a blessed evening. emoticon emoticon

I watched all the episodes of "24" and have Season 1 on DVD. I now watch Kiefer Sutherland on "Designated Survivor". He's good in both series.

Your comments about anger made me think of this little poem. I don't recall the origin and can't find it on Google. I remember it from years ago, so it could be something from a book I read years ago.

Sow not your seed in anger,
nor in hatred, nor in fear,
for what you sow in anger,
you shall surely reap in tears.

Have a nice evening. emoticon emoticon

What a great take-away message from the program! TRUTH! Anger never solves/resolves anything.

Hugs and stay warm. Sunny out here, but cold.
