Time to RE-START

Caught this on my Council Facebook page and thought is that really me??

Really makes myself think... UGH (And it is not a picture taken from the wrong view point excuse either!)

Knew I was putting on weight slowly over the years. Not being part of a unit that goes camping and more, actively outside and doing the behind the scenes passive work with computer seating is catching up with me! Even seeing Scouters (adult Boy Scouts of America volunteers) I haven't seen in a while showing results of weight loss, either via Facebook or at a monthly/ quarterly meeting, is needling me to start.

The picture above at our University of Scouting tipped the scale. Even got a head start the week before when I lost 10 pounds because of food poisoning. Scouter posted pictures of his Optavia loss that had me asking my best friend Google was it was. Google came up with Medifast instead that was cheaper and the original company. (Optivia is a rebranding of Medifast and uses more natural ingredients.) I really liked the idea of ordering food that is pre-made and simply selecting my daily eats. Beats the whole idea of the sudden changes diets make one do in terms of shopping, planning and etc. My hands are in too many Scouting projects, events and committees to add another thing to my plate, yet I really NEED to lose weight!

During that day of University of Scouting, my sciatica nerve was really acting up that was creating problems with my leg. Felt like a hook coming down my right leg and catching it, preventing me from walking and more. The pain was worse than ever before. Day after, realized I really need to add that focus on me in resolving this now and for the future, as its been about a year. Weight loss would help a bit with pressure that is in that area. Exercising core muscles would stretch and strengthen the area around the sciatica nerve and hopefully decrease/ erase the problem. If not, it's back surgery. Nothing I'm thrilled about as hospitals are just not my thing.

Signing up to staff for our World Scout Jamboree is another push to needing to lose weight. Start now, March 2018, and I can be more than ready by July 2019. (Goal is to lose 87 pounds. Thanks to food poisoning I lost the first 10 pounds. This week on Medifast so daily weight loss too.)

So let us embark on the beginnings of a new journey in starting (or in my case re-starting) our weight loss to a better and healthier us! Find the diet that works for YOU and track yourself daily.

As you begin... remember KISS (Keep It Super Simple) in one step at a time. Your first step is starting.
