Just about St Patrick's Day!

This spring is slipping by.... almost St Patrick's day, which is kind of special to me. I love the Irish music, but seldom go out anywhere now. Will just listen to some at home...and perhaps have my morning coffee in the Irish Belleek cup! My grandfather used to plant his peas by St Patrick's day: done, Grandpa! The weather was good enough I put some in several weeks ago. They have been biding their time during the cold & snow recently, and are now sprouting. Our plum tree also opened blossoms this week. Hopefully we won't get a long cold spell in late March....
I've been experiencing slow progress in the downward scale trend. Part of it is a result of some increased biking---90 miles this week--- and some of it comes from watching my veggies at lunch better. Small changes add up!! I'm looking forward to getting back down to my Maintenance range and staying there. I was there briefly last summer; this time I hope to remain there!!
Our trip to Mexico was very interesting: we were fortunate enough to visit briefly with a traditional Mayan family: grandpa threshing his beans on a tarp; the tortilla's drying on a table in the sun; grandson chasing the chickens. The nice chairs were brought out for us...and a plate of rolled up tortillas with chicken filling appeared and were shared. Lovely people... I would have enjoyed being able to speak with them, or been there long enough to help with the building of their new room. Good memories though, along with walking amongst some of the 1500 year old Mayan ruins. An amazing civilization of which parts still exist.
TIme to get back to my crocheting!
