Summer Rolls in With a Vengeance!
Wednesday, May 23, 2018
The 2018 Spring into Summer season is rolling in with a vengeance, leaving me little opportunity to breath or relax.
First, there's work: my main job is turning into three people's jobs. This is coming along with a promotion and a raise, so I'm not complaining, but taking on all the new tasks can be a bit much some days, or at the very least mentally draining. In the meantime, I'm still at the part-time weekend gig, and while I will be giving them my notice soon, in the meantime I'm still working 7 days a week.
Secondly, there's the issues with my race bike that have had me chasing my tail all over the place. From days on track that are nearly wasted from trying to sort through these issues, to trying to ride around them, to all of the normal fixes one goes through - no down time!
Finally there's the actual race and track day season which is in full swing. While my weekend gig feels like I'm taking all this "time off" the reality is those days are NOT rest days. I'm coaching at most of the track days, and racing is, well, racing and makes for a long weekend.
I'm not complaining, just feeling a bit burnt out! I haven't had a real day off since Christmas, and it's starting to wear on me a bit. Thankfully I won't be at the part time gig too much longer - I'll still be doing some freelancing, but that's completely flexible, which I'm okay with doing!
