Since I woke up way too early today, I thought it would be a good chance to try my very first blog post. This will be mostly about what has lead me to this new starting point.

What can I say? Several years ago, I tried out Spark People and really liked it. I lost weight! I found healthy recipes, and learned new workouts. But I didn't stick with it and the pounds slowly came back. Then they went higher than ever before, but I still had moderately healthy cholesterol levels, could get around easily, and never had a problem with blood pressure. Sure I wanted to look better, but I felt pretty good and accepted my fate as someone who would always be large.

My daughter is thin as a rail though, and I noticed I started having trouble keeping up during a trip to Yellowstone in 2016. In fact, I had altitude sickness, but it felt like my heart was being squeezed in a vice. I recovered and life went on.

Fast forward to early 2018, and I started learning about the Keto diet. It sounded like just what I needed! The pounds will fall right off! Well I DID lose some but I felt horrible. I never stayed on it long enough to get the true benefits.

But now? Now I have high blood pressure. And I have mobility issues. I have to make big changes if I want to make it through my 40s. I'm back on the Keto wagon, and figuring out which exercise program is one I can really stick with. I'm kind of thinking of a bike or treadmill.

Anyway, all this is to say if you're ever in Bloomington, IN, I hope to say hello to you and wish you well on your journey!

    Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. You have to make you #1 and tell yourself that you are worth it. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone else. If I can help in anyway, feel free to reach out to me! I have found that a clean diet or regular metered food works for me, A balanced diet with portion control and some exercise thrown in can totally transform you. But take it slow and steady so you will stick with it. You can do it! We are here to help! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon

    Good luck to you. I looked into Keto but the thought of giving up so many things and/or having to relearn how to cook made me want to cry. Decided if something makes me that sad, maybe it's not for me.So
