Trying to get it together.

Friday, July 27, 2018

I felt the need to get this off my chest today because it has really been bothering me. I was on keto for a few months. I lost about 20lbs, but because of the way I ate on the diet, I felt tired and really disgusting all the time. So I decided that keto just wasn't the lifestyle for me if I was going to be miserable all the time. I started eating whole grains again and it seems like instantly I gained every pound lost plus some. I was told that around 10 lbs of it was probably water retention from the increase of carbs. To all those out there that can live without all the bread and pasta and come out just fine with tons of energy that is amazing! I just wasn't one of those people. Though it did work, it ultimately let me down by adding more weight to my body which has enraged me this morning to the point of tears and a really negative view of myself and my body. I am really trying to be more positive, it just isn't working for me today. just mad ramblings to try to lighten my mood feel free to ignore completely LOL emoticon

I am right there with you!

I did keto for a while bc my doctor recommended it. I went through the keto flu. I had NO energy and felt awful. I lost weight. But I was not feeling good on this diet at all. And it was hard to do my diet and my family's diet at the same time. So eventually I chucked the diet in the trash.

And I gained all the weight back.

Eventually I landed on a weight loss app because I need more than calorie tracking - I need to know and recognize WHY I eat and that kind of thing.

But here's the real lesson: No heavy restriction diet is going to work for me. It's not my style. I want to be able to eat a little of everything and feel no stress about it. So I track it all and I feel less stressed than ever. I've lost 13 pounds in two months. It's a slow process.

I eat bread. I eat that stuff everyday. I have energy and no one has to tip toe around my "diet" and I am not eating high fat and crazy amounts of meat. My bloodwork was awful on keto. And I was almost diabetic! Now I am no where near close to diabetes and my blood work is clearing up. I can come of some meds soon!

The moral of the story is you are accomplishing something - you know that keto isn't for you. Not all diets are. Now, you can't talk trash to yourself. Your body does amazing things all day long. So find out what does work for you.

The even better news here is you have gorgeous hair, you are beautiful and no diet will destroy that. Keep going! Hang in there! Ok, enough cheesy talk!

Venting in this way is healthy. You've found something that doesn't work, now you can look for something else.

I am glad that you let it all out. Keeping frustrations in is not good. I believe that it is important to find something that you are willing to do for the rest of your life. Fad diets are not sustaining. I believe in you. Keep pushing forward! Good luck
