Today marks two weeks of watching what I eat and exercising. I feel so much better when I exercise most days of the week and eat right. Prior to the last few weeks my thought process was that I should exercise and eat better but thoughts like: "Today I overate because I was tired and fast food was quick" or "I worked 12 hours 5 days in a row, i deserve this reward of (insert unhealthy food with salty/sugary treats here)". A big one for me too was, "I took my vitamins so I've had plenty of nutrients and dont need these veggies". So, along with these habits over the last few years came 80 lbs!

I was not exactly skinny prior to this, but was healthy and exercised regularly. Also, I was on track to being thinner. Thin to me is a healthy BMI, not a size 2.Now don't get me wrong I would love to be this skinny but I would be happy between size 5 and size 9. At my height this looks best. The 80 lbs of weight loss seems to be so daunting. So, instead of thinking I want to be a size 5 and lose 80 lbs, I'm thinking more along the lines of keeping my spark challenge of 10 min of exercise daily. I can log my food daily. Sometimes, I get busy but I can commit to the spark challenge of eating 5 servings of veggies per day.

I can do this. I will do this!

I second the advice of R HOOK set short term goals of losing 5% of your weight. There is even a spark team for that The 2018 Summer5% Challenge Community https://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark
/groups_individual.asp?gid=69883 The community is broken up into teams. Each team is given 8 weeks to lose 5% of their weight and the team goal is to lose the most weight. Its too late to join the summer challenge, but if your interested send CERIUSLY a spark message and ask to be put on the Fall 5% reminder list.
Also, it would be very helpful if you could commit to cutting out all sugary and processed foods or cut them out 2-3 days a week.

Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. You have to make you #1 and tell yourself that you are worth it. And remember you didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it overnight. It takes time, determination, motivation and support. You can get it all right here! If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone else. If I can help in anyway, feel free to reach out to me! Instead of thinking about the 80 lbs you want to lose, set a goal of losing 5%. Losing 4 lbs. is much easier and more attainable. And when you lose that set another goal of 5%. Makes weightloss seem more realistic. You can do it! We are here to help! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon
