Michelangelo at the end of the walk.

On our trip to Eastern Europe, we decided to walk a lot, and try to get in better shape. My wife had had hip replacement in December, and we flew to Europe on June 5th. I had knee replacement and had recovered well (did the rehab), but had gotten a bit out of shape. When we started we could do 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile, but over the trip worked up to a couple days of 5.5+ miles. What seemed to really help was the really cool things that we were going to see at the end of the hike, or the michelangelo for that day.
When we got home, did do some walking, but circuits around the neighborhood got shorter as the summer temperatures got hotter.
We had talked about what would make the walks more interesting. Today we went to a local wetland area and saw lots of nature. Egrets, Herons, Osprey, kingfishers, teal, Canadians, a deer, squirrels, and found some ripe blackberries at the end. Coming home we stopped at a couple of parks and picked up maps. It was fun, and we hiked for two hours. Getting the plan together. We do have the advantage that we tend to egg each other on.
